Soooo it has come to an end, 

We hope you guys have enjoyed sitting back and watching some of our favourite and current movies with us. We hope we have been able to help you out in times of boredom and when the weather gets a little too cold, lets face it everyone enjoys cuddling up and putting on a movie. We have enjoyed delving into the past with some Disney favourites such as Mary Poppins and The Lion King, whilst exploring some of the newly released motion pictures such a Bad Neighbors and Captain America. 

We would like to personally thank everyone who has been viewing our blog.

Harry Potter

Let’s finish with a bang! What is the one movie series that has marked the 21^st century with its magic and never will be forgotten? Why it’s Harry Potter of course! Appropriate for kids, teens and adults alike, the Harry Potter movies, based on the series of books written by J.K. Rowling, is one that no living soul should miss.

The series of movies follows the life of a wizard, none other than Harry Potter, watching him grow from being a small, unaware 11 year old boy to a brave, skilled wizard. The story begins with the murder of Harry’s parents by the darkest wizard of all time, Lord Voldemort. Harry is then fostered by his aunty and uncle, growing up in the cupboard under the stairs in their house, constantly living in the shadow of his older cousin. But on Harry’s 11^th birthday, he receives a very special visitor who delivers some news that will change Harry’s life.

Throughout the eight movies (one more than the book series as the last book is split into two films), Harry goes to school at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, makes many lifelong friends, battles numerous enemies, learns some very important lessons about himself, his family and the magical world, and faces his fears for the greater good.

The films, in order, are:

• Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
• Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
• Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
• Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

I would recommend this series to anyone and everyone! With a total for all eight movies of 19 hours and 40 minutes, they are sure to keep you occupied when you need it most. The movie classifications vary from PG and M, mostly for stylised and fantasy violence, depending on which film you watch. I rate every movie individually a 10/10, and overall for the series, of course, another 10/10!

The Breakfast Club

Now lets take it back to a time that it is thought to have had the best music and fashion, the “amazing” 80s. The Breakfast Club is a 1985 American coming of age film written and directed by John Hughes and starring Judd Nelson, Paul Gleason, Anthony Michael Hall, John Kapelos, Emilio Estevez, Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy, with the media referring to five of the main actors as members of a group called the "Brat Pack". 

The storyline follows five teenagers, each a member of a different high school clique, there’s the "criminal" John Bender, "athlete" Andrew Clark, "brain" Brian Johnson, "basket case" Allison Reynolds, and "princess" Claire Standish who spend a Saturday in detention together. Gradually, they open up to each other and reveal their deepest personal secrets and come to realize that they are all more than their respective stereotypes.However, despite these developing friendships, the students are afraid that once the detention is over, they will return to their very different cliques and never speak to each other again.

Some people still to this day consider this movie to be one of the greatest high school films. I rate this movie a 9/10, I definitely do not recommend this movie as appropriate for young children.

That Awkward Moment

Hello all! If you're into Sex and The City, then you're definitely up for the film That Awkward Moment. In my thoughts, this is for sure the male version of Sex and The City.

Film director, Tom Gormican is a writer and director for a few movies such as That Awkward Moment, Movie 43 and Save The Date. However, this film That Awkward Moment should get the girls wanting to watch it. It stars the famous heart throb Zac Efron, alongside Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller.

That Awkward Moment is primarily based on three male best friends where they find the specific moment in their relationships to be confused once the question "So...where is this going?" has been asked to them. One of the best friends has been dumped, without even realizing they were going out in the first place. The other has his wife asking for a divorce and the last man standing is single. For everyone to be happy, they proposed that they remained single and have fun. However, as time passes, feelings have developed. Do the boys tell each other or do they keep it as a secret? There's only one way to find out...

That Awkward Moment is a comedy romance film and is rated MA15+. Overall, I would rate this film a 7/10.

Mary Poppins

The absolute classic from 1964, Mary Poppins, is a great movie for those out there wishing to reconnect with their childhood days, or for the new generations as a first-time experience. Now also an on-stage production and musical, Mary Poppins is one that literally has touched the lives of almost everyone.

Another great Walt Disney film, it follows the story of Mary Poppins, played by Julie Andrews, a magical nanny who visits a dysfunctional family in London and uses her distinctive view on life as a means to help the family be whole and happy. Mary forms a strong bond with the children of the family, showing them the world with her magical and interesting friends, taking the children on adventures they would never have dreamed of. They befriend an old associate of Mary’s, Bert, who throughout the movie takes on a number of jobs, including the chalk artist and, most famously, the chimney sweep.

Packed full of laughs, friendship, song and dance, this film will no doubt put a smile on your face and lift your spirits, wherever you are. This movie is perfect for the kids (and the adults too!), and I rate it a 10/10 because it is an impeccable all-rounder.

The Notebook

Now for a must-see classic that will pull on your heartstrings and bring a tear to your eye. The 2004 film, The Notebook, is based on the novel of the same name by Nicholas Sparks and is directed by Nick Cassavetes.

It is about a young couple, Noah and Allie, played fittingly by Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams respectively, who fall in love during the early 1940s. However, their time together is restricted to only the summer months as Allie’s family forbid her from seeing Noah and force her to leave town with them. Years pass, and Allie moves on with her life, meeting a new man whom she is set to marry. But an unexpected reconnection brings Noah back into Allie’s life where old feelings are ignited and, well, things get complicated.

This beautiful story is narrated by an elderly man who reads the love story out of his notebook to an elderly woman suffering from dementia, hoping to make her remember.

So grab a box of tissues, sit down and snuggle up under the blankets and let this layered, exquisite love story take hold of you (because trust me, it will). It is rated PG only for some mild nudity and sexual situations. I rate it 8/10.

The Lion King

It’s time for a nostalgic experience, yep that’s right it is time for a Disney classic!!.This year marks the 20th anniversary of ‘The Lion King’ a much loved favorite. It is a movie that people of all ages will definitely enjoy, with lots of catchy tunes that we guarantee will get stuck in your head and not to forget for a strictly limited time Disney presents ‘The lion King’ the musical, as it travels all around Australia. Make sure to get your tickets as they are running out quickly. 

The Lion King is about a young Lion prince’s journey to find himself. As a cub Simba experiences a tragic incident which causes him to run away from home. After running far away, Simba comes across Timon a meerkat and Pumbaa a warthog who look after him as he grows up. The three of them  live a carefree life under the motto "hakuna matata" ("no worries"). After years have past Simba is then found by one of his childhood friends Nala who tells him of all the horrible circumstances the pride has faced and asks him to come back and take his rightful position as head of the pride, due to the fact his uncle has ruined everything with his dictatorship. At the Pride Lands Simba confronts Scar (his uncle) in an epic battle between good and evil. 

This movie is full of suspense and joy, with a rating of G it is a great movie for everyone to fall in love with. I rate this movie a 10/10 as it is a classic which after 20 years still captivates an audience. 

So don’t forget to sit back, relax  and remember ‘Hakuna Matata’.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Been a while since you delved into the superhero world? Well wait no more! Captain America 2 is here, and it is a must see (no matter if you’ve seen the first one or not :P ).

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is produced by Marvel Studios and is based on the original Marvel Comics. The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, and stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Robert Redford, Samuel L. Jackson, and many more outstanding actors/actresses.

In the film, Captain America, along with a very small team of friends of which are the only people he trusts, works to uncover the conspiracies within S.H.I.E.L.D, while at the same time defend themselves against the attacks of an unidentified assassin, the Winter Soldier. As well, throughout these epic battles, Captain America struggles within himself to determine his place in the modern world.

Not much more can be said about the plot without revealing vital detail of the film, but this is not one to miss. Interwoven with numerous twists and turns, discoveries and conspirators, this film keeps you engaged with its suspense and great action scenes.

This movie is great for anyone, especially those superhero lovers out there! It is rated M due to action violence, sexual references and coarse language, but overall is a very decent film. I would rate it a 9/10.

Bad Neighbours

It's definitely time for a great laugh! Recently released movie in the cinemas Bad Neighbours. So come on and head in quick to your local theatre and be sure to check this film out.

From Get Him To The Greek director Nicholas Stoller, Bad Neighbours stars famous actors; the legendary Seth Rogen and the all time favourite heartthrob Zac Efron. The film begins with a couple with a new born baby being forced to live next to a fraternity house. The couple experiences difficulties trying to cope with the 24/7 partying from next door and seek every action to destroy their house. However, the boys in the fraternity house fights back and thus every actions gets more dangerous and dangerous.

Who will win? There's only one way to find out - go watch the movie! Bad Neighbours is great for a Friday night movie outing with all your friends. Recommended audiences would be MA15+ for views over the age of 15 due to strong course language and sexual references. Overall, I would rate this film a 8.5/10.

Frozen

After watching an intense action thriller with Rogue, there's no doubt that there's no need for an animated - musical movie to get over the fear. Lucky for you guys, I have just a suggestion that would heal. That is, of course, the the recently released film Frozen.

Based on the Hans Christian Andersen's fairytale The Snow Queen, Frozen immersed. Directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee and produced by Walt Disney Pictures, it is a 3D computer animated - musical comedy which runs for 102 minutes. The film features the voice of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff and many more.

The story of the film is about a princess who goes off on a journey to seek her estranged sister who has icy powers. With this ability, she has unintentionally trapped the entire kingdom in eternal winter. Along the way, the princess meets a mountain men, his pet reindeer and a hapless snowman.

Frozen is inspiring, heart - warming and one of the greatest 3D animated - musical film in a long time. I would definitely recommend everyone to watch it as it is a truly inspirational film. Overall, I would rate a 10/10.

Rogue

Hey all! In for a quiet night in alongside some action and adventure with a little horror added to keep your on your toes? Well watch Rogue as it exactly gives you that and will definitely satisfies the "perfect" ending to your night ;)

Rogue, directed by Greg McLean, whom has directed many other famous movies such as Wolf Creek and Wolf Creek 2. Rogue is a 2007 film, featuring our famous Sam Worthington (Avatar), is set in the Australian Outback. Its storyline is easy to understand and follow,  starting off with an American journalist on road for an assignment in the Australian Outback. Along his journey, he then comes across a man - eating crocodile. The journalist, along with other characters struggle and fight for their lives, trying every possible way to kill the crocodile.

Rogue is definitely an adventurous action film and is a perfect choice for those who are seeking for a thriller night. It is engaging and thrilling, which gets you sitting at the edge of your seats. Overall, I would rate a 7/10.

The Other Woman

Looking for a ladies night out this long weekend? Well this is the perfect opportunity and time to check out the latest romantic comedy movie in the cinemas The Other Woman. 

The Other Woman, directed by Nick Cassavetes is a recently released movie in the cinemas and features famous icons such as Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, Kate Upton and Nicki Minaj.  

The movie, to summarise, starts off typically like any other romantic comedy movie: business lady Carly (Cameron Diaz) merrily falls in with another business man. However, after discovering her boyfriend is married, Carly soon meets the wife realising they have so much in common and eventually becoming her greatest friend. After a while, they realises that another affair is discovered, the entire three woman gangs up and seek revenge on their lying, three-timing cheating.

It’s funny, exhilarating and ridiculous so don’t miss out! It’s definitely the perfect choice of movie for a ladies night out this long weekend! It is rated PG, however I would recommend audience over 15 years of age due to sexual references and mild course language. Overall, I would rate it a 7/10.

Now You See Me

We have just entered the second week of the Easter holidays, by this time everyone is usually saying “I’m bored”, “There’s nothing to do” well we are here to save the day!!. 

The movie Now You See Me directed by Louis Leterrier who has also directed movies such as The Incredible Hulk (2008) and Clash of the Titans (2010) brings you this amazing thriller. Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Mark Ruffalo 

The movie is based on four skilled street magicians, J. Daniel Atlas, Merritt McKinney, Henley Reeves, and Jack Wilder who are all brought together by an anonymous  benefactor. One year later they form an alliance called “The Four Horsemen” who pull off a series of daring heists against corrupt business leaders during their performances and reward their audiences with the money. Upon word getting out that they are supposedly stealing copious amounts of money, the FBI and Interpol partner up to investigate the issue. But in saying this the movie is centred on one important quote “ The closer you look, the less you see”. There are many twists and turns along they way and The Four Horsemen always manage to stay one step ahead of the law or do they? 

The classification of this movie is M. I recommend anyone who loves good twists and turns  to definitely check this movie out. I would rate it a 9/10 i really enjoyed it and I hope you do too!!.

The Lord of the Rings

After having such a fun and light-hearted time with the LEGO movie, maybe it is now time for some magnificent action with the movie trilogy, “The Lord of the Rings”? Now, I know what you are thinking. How do I have time to watch three whole movies that together run for 664 minutes?! That’s 11 hours! Well, the answer is, number one, when it is cold outside, what else are you going to do? Number two, right now, it is school holidays, so for some of you, you have all the time in the world. And thirdly, when it comes to “The Lord of the Rings”, well, you simply just make time.

The trilogy starts off, as does the books by J. R. R. Tolkien upon which the movies are based, with the first instalment: “The Fellowship of the Ring”. We are introduced to the main characters: the hobbits, most significant of which is Frodo Baggins, as well as Meriadoc, Pippin and Sam; Gandalf the Grey; the brave men, Aragorn and Boromir; the elf Legolas; and the dwarf Gimli. The story follows this group of nine as they set out to destroy the One Ring, which has been entrusted to the hands of Frodo by his uncle Bilbo Baggins, to prevent the Dark Lord Sauron from repossessing the ring, which would mean much destruction for the land and its people.   

The next instalment is “The Two Towers”, where Frodo and Sam continue on their journey towards Mordor, where the One Ring must be destroyed, meeting Gollum along the way, whilst the others fight separate battles against the orcs in attempts to stop Sauron and his minion, Saruman.

Finally, the third and last instalment is “The Return of the King”. As Frodo and Sam persevere in their travel towards the volcanic fires of Mount Doom, the only place the One Ring can be destroyed forever, accompanied only by an unpredictable Gollum, the other six of the Fellowship attempt to distract Sauron and protect their capital. The final epic battle is fought, which lies in the hands of the two small hobbits. 

Although these movies are not for the young amongst us due to its intense action, gore, mature themes and violence, they are a great way to pass the time and enjoy some good quality rest bite. Whether you are having a movie night (or day!) with some friends, or filling in the hours after the kids have gone to bed, put the surround sound on and sit back and enjoy, because “The Lord of the Rings” will not disappoint. Overall, this series deserves a solid 10/10.
