The
absolute classic from 1964, Mary Poppins,
is a great movie for those out there wishing to reconnect with their childhood
days, or for the new generations as a first-time experience. Now also an
on-stage production and musical, Mary Poppins is one that literally has touched
the lives of almost everyone.
Another
great Walt Disney film, it follows the story of Mary Poppins, played by Julie
Andrews, a magical nanny who visits a dysfunctional family in London and uses
her distinctive view on life as a means to help the family be whole and happy.
Mary forms a strong bond with the children of the family, showing them the
world with her magical and interesting friends, taking the children on
adventures they would never have dreamed of. They befriend an old associate of
Mary’s, Bert, who throughout the movie takes on a number of jobs, including the
chalk artist and, most famously, the chimney sweep.
Packed full
of laughs, friendship, song and dance, this film will no doubt put a smile on
your face and lift your spirits, wherever you are. This movie is perfect for
the kids (and the adults too!), and I rate it a 10/10 because it is an impeccable
all-rounder.
